Happy Earth Day everyone. Just yesterday someone was telling me how he brought acorns home from Sherwood Forest years ago and grew them into trees in CA. Some died but others he found good homes for. They are 6 feet tall now. He said they require lots and lots of water. Many were cut down to build masts for the Spanish Armada. Or so he said. I'm not sure why England was providing masts for Spain. Still it made for an interesting tale, and reminded me that we could all be planting more trees. Check your local nursery for trees that are native to your local area for best results.
